At Castles Flooring, we believe your home is your castle, and its foundation starts with flawless floors. Whether we are installing a brand-new floor or breathing life back into your existing hardwood, we are dedicated to providing world-class workmanship, exceptional materials, and an unparalleled customer experience.
Because we stand proudly behind the quality of our work, we are thrilled to offer our clients an industry-leading 3-Year Workmanship Warranty covering our installation, sanding, and refinishing services. This page outlines our commitment to you, ensuring you feel confident, comfortable, and protected for years to come.
The Castles Flooring 3-Year Workmanship Guarantee
Castles Flooring warrants to the original purchaser that all flooring installation, sanding, and refinishing work performed by our in-house professionals will be free from defects in workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the date of substantial completion.
To protect your investment from day one, we follow strict scientific protocols before a single board is laid. We ensure all wood is properly acclimated to your home’s normal living conditions, and we conduct rigorous moisture testing. We will only install when the moisture variance between the wood and your subfloor is within safe limits (under 4% for strip flooring and under 2% for wide plank).
If an issue arises directly due to our workmanship within this three-year period, Castles Flooring will repair or replace the affected area at our sole discretion, completely free of charge for labor and operational materials.
What is Covered Under Our Warranty:
Hardwood Sanding & Refinishing:
- Finish Adhesion: Peeling, flaking, or blistering of the polyurethane or finish coat resulting from improper floor preparation or application.
- Sanding Workmanship: Severe, unnatural sanding anomalies left behind by our machinery (such as prominent drum chatter marks or severe edger swirls) that fall outside industry-accepted standards.
- Stain Application: Verifiable, gross unevenness in stain application caused by improper blending techniques (excluding natural wood grain variations).
Hardwood & General Flooring Installation:
- Improper Expansion: Buckling or lifting of hardwood caused solely by our failure to leave appropriate perimeter expansion gaps during installation to account for natural wood movement.
- Adhesion & Fastener Issues: Loose boards resulting from improper nail/cleat spacing, or the bubbling and releasing of glue-down flooring due to improper adhesive application.
- General Flooring (Carpet, Vinyl, Laminate): Peeling or unraveling of seams, and the wrinkling/buckling of wall-to-wall carpeting requiring re-stretching.
- Transitions: Loosening or detachment of transition strips, reducers, and T-moldings installed by our team.
Note on Material Warranties: This 3-year warranty covers Castles Flooring’s workmanship. The flooring materials themselves (prefinished hardwood, vinyl, laminate, carpet, etc.) are covered separately by the respective manufacturer’s warranty. We will gladly assist you in filing a manufacturer’s claim should a material defect arise.
Warranty Exclusions (What is Not Covered)
Wood is a natural, living product that constantly absorbs and releases moisture depending on its environment. To maintain fairness and transparency, it is important to understand the limits of this warranty. The Castles Flooring 3-Year Warranty does not cover damages, dimensional changes, or defects resulting from the following:
- Environmental & Climate Issues: To ensure the longevity of your floors, the indoor environment must be consistently maintained at a Relative Humidity of 30% to 50% and a temperature of 60°F to 80°F year-round. Castles Flooring is not responsible for cupping, crowning, buckling, or degradation caused by a failure to maintain these climate controls (e.g., turning off the AC during a humid summer, or failing to use a humidifier during a dry winter).
- Moisture & Water Damage: Wood degradation caused by external moisture sources. This includes flooding, wet mopping, plumbing leaks, appliance leaks, or hydrostatic pressure rising from concrete slabs or crawlspaces.
- Natural Wood Characteristics: Wood naturally expands in humid months and shrinks in dry months. Minor seasonal gapping between floorboards is a normal characteristic of real wood and is not a defect.
- Color Changes: Fading, darkening, or ambering of wood or finishes due to natural aging and exposure to sunlight (UV light) or area rugs.
- Normal Wear and Tear: Routine degradation, loss of gloss, or surface scratches, scuffs, and gouges caused by pets, furniture movement, high heels, or dropped objects.
- Improper Maintenance: Damage caused by the use of unapproved cleaning agents (e.g., oil soaps, wax), excessive water, steam cleaners, or failure to follow our recommended care instructions.
- Structural Issues: Damage resulting from subfloor shifting, foundation settling, or structural movement.
- Third-Party Alterations: Any repairs, taping, or modifications made to the flooring by anyone other than an authorized Castles Flooring technician will immediately void this workmanship warranty.
